Green Gay Bulls' highway sign has wandered off
LGBT-friendly business owner has seen this before
The owner of theGreen Gay Bulls B&B in Vernon Bridge, Jim Culbert, says someone has made off with acolourfulhighway signthat advertises his LGBT-friendly bed and breakfast.
"It was not ripped off the frame but someone took the time to somehow get up to the snaps and unhook the sign," Culbert wrote in an emailto CBC.
Culbertbelieves the sign was taken in the early hours of Monday morning. He has contacted IslandRCMPto reportthe sign missing.
The sign was posted in front of his business on a busy stretch of theTrans-Canadahighway, mid-way between Charlottetown and the Wood Islands ferry. The road is often travelled by tourists at this time of year.Green Gay Bulls is a play on words, inreference to the novelAnne of Green Gables.
"I suspect that is was taken as a souvenir, as they seem to have not made any damage to the frame that the sign was erected on," he wrote.
Culberthas operated B&Bs in Vernon Bridge for decades and has often used rainbow-colouredsignagetoadvertisehisLGBT-friendlyestablishments.
His signs have been damaged and stolen onoccasionin the past.
The missing sign also advertises Culbert'supholstery business.
"I would be happy just to get it back as it will be costly to replace and people looking for the BNB or wanting upholstery work done could miss the property," Culbert wrote.
