A former Charlottetown taxi driver has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for sexually assaulting a passenger in his cab.

31 year old Paramveer Singh Bhurjeepleaded guilty Oct. 31 to grabbing a woman's breast, while she was riding in his taxi in August.

The woman got in his cab late one night after she'd been out drinking with her cousin in Charlottetown.

Bhurjeeadmitted asking the woman to get in the front seat, saying he needed her help to navigate to her destination.

After he grabbed her breast, she called 911 and ordered Bhurjeeto pull over at a gas station and let her out.

The woman's name is protected by a court ban.

She told CBC Monday she didn't feel like 90 days in jail was enough time.

'I feel unsafe by myself'

"Ninety days is nothing considering the emotional damage caused as a result of this," she said, adding that her life feels like it will be forever changed.

"I'm nervous around men and in crowds. I feel unsafe by myself too."

Bhurjeerepresented himself in P.E.I. Provincial Court Monday.

He was originally scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 7 so that a probation officer could prepare a pre-sentence report.

However, court heard Monday that Bhurjee didn't want to participate in that process so the judge moved the sentencing up.

In addition to the 90 days in jail, Bhurjeereceived two years probation and his name has been added to the nationalsex offender registry and his DNA will be added to the national databank.
