911 service for deaf people introduced in Sask.

A new emergency service for those who are hearing impaired has been introduced in Saskatchewan.

"Text with 911"is for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired.

Those who want the service have to register their mobile phone number. They can then text back and forth with 911 operators during an emergency.

Users will still have to dial 911 as usual, but the operator will know to text rather than speak.

The service is also available to family members of hearing impaired people.
