Unseasonably warm weather in recent weeks has helped farmers get the harvest 95 per centdone, a Saskatchewan crop report says.

That's considerableprogress compared to the last crop report, covering the period up to Oct. 24, when only 82 per cent was done.

At the time, cool, wet and even snowy weather had hit throughout the province and the harvest was virtually stalled.

But then late in October and early November, there was a turnaround.

Some farmers who had previously been worried about having to wait until springmanaged to combine the last of their crops.

The overall result of harvest 2016 is a mixed bag, the Ministry of Agriculture says:Yields are much higher than the five-year average, but the quality is down in most crop categories.

It has turned cooler and damper in recent days, but according to the ministry, producers are hopeful that much of the remaining five per cent canbe taken off prior to winter.
