The Rural Municipality of McKillop in Saskatchewan isgoing through a rough patch.

A picture of surface breaks on Highway 220 in the area approximately 80 kilometres north of Regina was posted this past weekendonthe provincial government's Facebook page.

"The conditionof our highways is disgraceful," states Facebook userAshlie Peakman in the post, which has received hundreds of comments and shares.

Gary Gilbert, the reeve of the RM, hopes attention from the startling image will lead to a solution.

Both Highway 220 and the nearby Highway 332 are closed due to the surface breaks.

"For a normal vehicle, if you don't have a truck, I wouldn't even go on those roads," Gilbert said. "You wouldn't make it. You'd rip something out for sure."

He also said that the rocky roads could have an economic impact.

Tourists use the two highways during the summer to visit cottages and beaches on Last Mountain Lake as well as Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park.

"If they do come here and they make it, I would feel sorry for them," Gilbert said. "They're going to destroy everything that they have and they will never ever come back."

Right now, Gilbert said many people in the community are taking the grid roads.
