Regina city council approves plan change for new schools

City council in Regina has approved a change in location for a future school.

The city received $6 million from the province for three schools that will be built under a public-private partnership (P3) arrangement, but the plan hit a snag.

The money isto be used for land servicing costs and in compensation for propertythe city puts aside for the schools.

One of the new schools was supposed to be built in the Skywood development in the northwest.

However, the developer won't be able to build it because costs are higher than expected, according toa report to council.

City officials proposed building it in another new neighbourhood, Coopertown, which is in a different part of the northwest.

Council members approved that change at their meeting Monday night.
