Glenn returns as Roughriders look for 2nd win against Ottawa

There is still a lot of work to do, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders are hoping to win their second game of the season and close the gap on the their western rivals.

The Roughriders kick off against the Ottawa Redblacks (6-4) at 7 p.m. CST at Mosaic Stadium.

While many people have written off the Riders this season, there is still a glimmer of hope.

B.C. (4-7) lost 35-23 to Calgary (9-3) on Friday night. That's good news for the 1-10 Riders. A win would put Saskatchewan four points behind B.C. and Winnipeg for third place in the West Division. Winnipeg plays Montreal (4-6) on Sunday.

Saskatchewan quarterback Kevin Glenn will make his first start for the Riders since suffering a torn pectoral muscle on July 26.

"My thing was just trying to get back to health where I can go out and play again," Glenn said on Friday.

A 1-10 record is something Glenn has never experienced in his entire football career. Now that he's healthy, Glenn said he's ready to compete for a playoff spot in spite of the doubters.

"I think what's most important is the guys that locker room believing and I think that's one thing we've done as far as the team is concerned: we believe," he said.

"Four or five weeks ago, maybe even eight weeks ago, you could have had finger pointing and guys coming out and talking about each other. But it never happened. Everybody in that locker room stayed together. And that's one thing I can attest to. This is really a team."

Glenn will go head-to-head with a familiar quarterback: Ottawa's Henry Burris. The two were teammates in Saskatchewan in 2003.

Ottawa won the first game between the two teams 35-13 on Aug. 30.
