Some in Sask. hospitalized over flu, health officials say

Influenza season is taking its toll in Saskatchewan.

The health ministry said some residentshave been hospitalized because they are so sick.

And with the level of flu activity expected to increase in the new year, health officials are telling people to get their shots.

Across Canada, H1N1 is the predominant strain causing illness this flu season. This year's flu shots include protection against it.

Flu shots are strongly advised for people who are in certain high-risk groups.

  • They includepeople 65 and older.
  • residents of long-term care facilities.
  • people with severe obesity.
  • children under five.
  • pregnant women.
