Trial dates set for 2 former principals from Saskatoon private Christian school

Two former principals of Christian Centre Academy in Saskatoon now called Legacy Christian Academy are now scheduled to stand trial in June.

Trial dates are now set for two former principalsof Christian Centre Academy, the Saskatoon private school now called Legacy Christian Academy.

Duff Arthur Friesen is facing 11 charges, while John A. Olubobokunfaces 13. Both worked at the private Christian school.

Both appeared in person Thursday at provincial court. They've elected trial by provincial court judge.

The trials are set to beginJune 24, 2024, with three days set aside.

The two men are not the only ones facing charges related to their time at the school.

Ken Schultz, a former director and vice-principal at the school, is charged with sexual assault and assault with a weapon.

Aaron Benneweis, a former coach atthe Christian Centre Academy,has admittedhe sexually assaulted a teen student at the school.Benneweis pleaded guilty last month to sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He is scheduled to returnto court for sentencing Jan. 4, 2024.

Benneweis's offences took place from 2008 to2012.
