Clean-up continues after Ontario Northland train spill north of Kirkland Lake

Trains are running again today on the Ontario Northland railway following a derailment last week but crews are still busy hoisting the last of the four cars out of the White Clay River between Kenogami and Ramore.

Trains arerunning again today on the Ontario Northland railway following a derailment last week but crews are stillbusy hoisting the last of the four cars out of the White Clay River between Kenogami and Ramore.

The train cars derailedalongside Highway 11near Swan Lake on Aug. 11. Theywere carrying copper-zinc concentrate from a Timminsmine, some of which leaked into the water.

An Ontario Northland spokespersonsaid in an email to CBC News thatonce the cars areremoved, the company willhave a better sense of the extent of the contamination.

A total of four cars ended up in the water,but only one wasbelieved to be leaking.
