Bob Daigle says turning nearly every inch of his tiny city lot into vegetable gardens has helps to offset the meagre social assistance his group home residents receive.

Bob Daigle's creative use of his city lot provides more produce than his residents can eat

For Bob Daigle, gardening is more than just a hobby.

Daigle runs a group home near Sudbury's downtown that providesdisabled adults with care and somewhere to live.

Hisresidents receive social assistance or disability benefits from the province, but Daigle says it's not much tolive on.

Turning nearly every square inch of his tiny city lot into an urban vegetable garden helps him defray the cost of food in the summer months.

Daigle gave CBC Reporter Megan Thomas a tour of his elaboratevegetable garden, which includes a homemade water tower and roof-top planting boxes.
