Sudbury city council has been cleared of wrongdoing in a complaint about a closed door meeting from this summer.

Sudbury city council has been cleared of wrongdoing in a complaint about a closed door meeting from this summer.

The complaint was regarding a session where councillors discussed granting a leave of absence to auditor general Brian Bigger.

Bigger was granted the leave to run in the mayoral election, which he won.

Meanwhile, private firm Local Authority Services which investigates such complaints in Greater Sudbury might be off the job by the end of the week.

At its meeting on Tuesday, city council is widely expected to reinstate Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin as the closed door meeting investigator.

The Ombudsman was fired by the previous council nearly two years ago.

Almost every candidate running in this October's election promised to re-instate the Ombudsman.
