Cyclist killed after pickup truck hit by streetcar collides with him
The fatal collision involved a cyclist, vehicle and streetcar, say police
A male cyclist is dead after a collisionin Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhoodWednesday morning, involvinga pickup truckand a streetcar.
It happened shortly after 9 a.m. at King Street West and Cowan Avenue.
Const. Clint Stibbetold CBCToronto that apickup truck travellingsouthbound on CowanAvenueattempted to cross King Street and was hit by a westbound streetcar. The vehicle went out of control as a result of the collision and struck a nearby cyclist.

Toronto paramedics transported the cyclist to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Stibbesaid the man was pronounced dead in hospital.
There is no information about his age or identity.
'We have got to build safer streets'
"It's a tragic incident,"said Cycle Toronto's executive director JaredKolb,who was at city hall where thepublic workscommiteewas being asked to approve theBloorStreet bike lanes.
"There's far too many pedestrians and cyclists in this city who are being hit, who are being seriously injuredand who are being killed.
"I think as a city we have got to come to grips with that, and we have got to build safer streets," he said.
