TTC Riders lash out at mayor's call for transit cutbacks with cheeky tweets

The TTC Riders group posted these three satirical suggestions along with many more outlandish ideas on Twitter and its website Tuesday as the city considers ways to make the transit agency more efficient.

TTC Riders, which advocates on behalf of customers, calls its campaign "So Efficient it Hurts" and, with tongue firmly in cheek, explains it by saying "Mayor John Tory wants help making the TTC more efficient. We're here to help."

Tory has asked the TTC which is already grappling with a $172.6 million shortfall to make cuts to deal with a 2.6 per cent reduction in its subsidy from the city, an amount totalling $15.8 million.

The TTC's budget committee is set to meet on Wednesday.

TTC Riders also asked its Twitter followers to chip in with their own cost-saving suggestions.
