Could the price be right for Rosie O'Donnell?

Bob Barker is endorsing Rosie O'Donnell as a possible host of The Price Is Right.

Newly retired The Price Is Right host Bob Barker is endorsing Rosie O'Donnell ashis possible replacement on the longtime game show.

O'Donnell, who left The View last monthafter a conflict with co-host Elisabeth Hasselback, is meeting with CBS over the role, he said in an interview Friday backstage at the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony.

"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said.

"She knows the show. There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker and O'Donnell have been friends for several years, since she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show.

O'Donnell is also a fan of the game show, which Barker hosted for 35 years before retiring after Friday's show.

"She told me she loved The Price Is Right and wanted to host it one day," he recalled.

O'Donnell is not the only star rumoured as replacement host.

Others include:

  • Todd Newton of the E! network.
  • Mark Steines of Entertainment Tonight.
  • George Hamilton.
  • John O'Hurley.
