Stratford's Superstar prepares for Broadway
The production of Jesus Christ Superstar helmed by outgoing artistic director Des McAnuff was such a hit at Canada's Stratford Shakespeare Festival that producers fast-tracked it to Broadway.
The revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical stars Canadians Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene and Paul Nolan as Jesus and American-born Josh Young as Judas.
The young stars have taken the show already to the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego and are to be featured in the April issue of Vanity Fair. The hugeexposure could mean a big boost to their acting careers.
CBCs David Common got a sneak peak at rehearsals ahead of its opening March 22.
