Painted Rainbow Pinecones

Here's a nature craft that's simple, colourful and easy for even the littlest of hands.

Plus, it's a great way to get the littles outside on a pinecone hunt. They'll love brightening up the whiteness of winter with rainbows!

You Will Need:

  • pinecones
  • paint in all the colours of the rainbow
  • paint brush
  • a cup (to hold the pinecone upright)
  • newspaper or an old table cloth

Two pine cones, a palette of paint and a paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Bundle up and head outside on a pinecone hunt. Gather as many pinecones as you want to paint — and maybe some extras for other fun nature crafts!

2. Lay out your newpaper to protect your craft space. It's going to get messy!

3. Pour your paint into dishes. Place a pinecone in a cup and begin painting the pinecone scales in a rainbow.

4. Once your rainbow is complete, allow the pinecone to dry for a day or so. Once all the pinecones are dry, you can tie them on string to create a rainbow pinecone garland, place them in bowls or simply place around to brighten up your space!
