The Montreal Canadiens have traded backup goaltender Dustin Tokarski to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for minor-league forward MaxFriberg.

Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin made the announcement Thursday, and said Friberg would join the Canadiens' AHLaffiliate in St. John's.

Friberg, 23, has played six career NHL games. In 25 AHL games this seasonhe has 17 points (five goals).

Tokarski, 26, had a 1-3-0 record in six games with the Canadiens this season, along with a 3.19 goals-against average and a .878 save percentage.

He helped fill in for injured top goalie Carey Price, who's been out since late November with a lower-body injury, but became expendable with the recent acquisition of Ben Scrivens.

Tokarski also replaced an injured Price in the 2014 playoffs but was unable to prevent Montreal from losing to the Rangers in six games in the Eastern Conference final.
