Musician Lana Del Rey offered a fiery rebuke of her critics and several of her pop contemporaries this week while confirming plans for a new album, set to drop later this year.

In a lengthy note posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Del Rey took aim at those who claimed shed glamorised abuse on albums like 2012s Born to Die and 2014s Ultraviolence .

Question for the culture, she wrote. Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B , Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyonc have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating etc. can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money or whatever I want without being crucified or saying that Im glamorising abuse??????
