Bethany Hamilton is officially a married woman!
The pro surfer and shark-attack survivor tied the knot with youth minister Adam Dirks in Hawaii Saturday. Hamilton told People magazine , "I love surfing, but getting married doesn't even compare. This was definitely the best night of my life."
The "Soul Surfer" author got engaged to Dirks in May after dating for a year. At the time, she wrote on her Facebook page , "One year ago today, I met an amazing man, now we will spend the rest of our lives together and I'm soo excited! I love you Adam!"
Hamilton's left arm was severed by a tiger shark while surfing in Kauai in 2005; she was just 13 years old. Her book, "Soul Surfer," was turned into a movie in 2011 and told the story of Hamilton's incredible post-accident comeback.
