Julia Louis-Dreyfus tried to help cast Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as a woman-hating weirdo as she hosted some of the nations most powerful female politicians for a talk during this weeks Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

As the Veep star moderated a discussion with the countrys eight Democratic female governors on Wednesday, she couldnt miss an opportunity to needle Vance, whose history of off-putting comments about women has continued to haunt him since he was announced as GOP nominee Donald Trumps running mate last month.

Louis-Dreyfus gave each of the governors a high-five as she waltzed onto the stage, saying, This is so cool.

We are very honored to have eight highly intelligent, highly capable women leaders for the 21st century with us or what JD Vance might call a coven of semi-menstruating witches, she added with a chuckle.

As the audience exploded in laughter, the Seinfeld actor said, Were gonna have fun.

Louis-Dreyfus joke made for a charming opening to the panel, which included Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Maine Gov. Janet Mills, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey and Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly.

The quip highlighted Vances habit of sneering at womens choices.

Along with his infamous comment about childless cat ladies, the Hillbilly Elegy author suggested its not normal for suburban women to care about abortion and once said that the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female is help raise grandchildren.
