The Rolling Stones have conspicuously omitted Brown Sugar from the playlist on their No Filter tour and theres a reason for it.

When the Los Angeles Times asked the band why it was ignoring one of its most popular concert songs, guitarist Keith Richards mentioned conflicts over the songs slavery lyrics.

The Stones have played the early 70s hit which begins Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields 1,136 times in concert, second only to Jumpin Jack Flash, according to a crowdsourced set list website .

Lead singer Mick Jagger kept a tighter lip with the Times on the controversy. Weve played Brown Sugar every night since 1970, so sometimes you think, well take that one out for now and see how it goes, he said. We might put it back in.
