If anyone knows the struggle of always being the tallest girl out of your peers, Sigourney Weaver sure does. Early on in the New York native's acting career, her towering six-foot height posed a threat to fellow actors and caused her to lose leading roles. However, Weaver's hard work payed off when she was cast as the kickass Ellen Ripley in the 1979 film "Alien," paving the way for future leading ladies of sci-fi. And it didn't take much longer for Hollywood to appreciate her statuesque beauty (and talent) -- Weaver would go on to star in "The Year of Living Dangerously" and "Ghostbusters" movies.
Gaining more on-screen time, meant more red carpet appearances. And if there's one thing that Weaver has perfected over the years (in addition to experimenting with every fashion trend, like shoulder pads, slinky dresses and sheer paneling), it would have to be her politician wave. Maybe she's one of the few stars that happens to be paparazzi-friendly, or she could have been preparing for her latest role as the Hillary Clinton-esque secretary of state on "Political Animals." Either way, she knows how to work the camera.
In honor of Sigourney Weaver 's 63rd birthday on Monday (October 8th), we're taking a look back at the leading lady's style over the years. Vote on all her looks in the slideshow below.
