The Emmy-nominated actor was just 7 when she played the young daughter of Costner's character in the 1989 smash, which also starred Ray Liotta.
He died of old age at his Chicago home on Saturday, just days before his 100th birthday, his daughter, Karen Nussbaum, told The Associated Press.
"He'll always be 'Shoeless Joe Jackson' in my heart," Costner wrote.
The actor had been filming a movie called Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic.
